How did Android 18 become human?

When we first meet Android 18, she is a bit of an enigma. We don’t know anything about her apart from that she is an Android created in Dr Gero. Then the next thing we know she’d given birth to a beautiful baby girl with Krillin of all people. Everyone assumed Android 18 was a robot, so how did Android 18 become human?

Android 18 didn’t need to become human because Android 18 was always human. She was an ordinary girl until Dr Gero gave her cybernetic enhancements technically turning her into a cyborg. This left her reproductive system intact, allowing her to give birth still.

How did Android 18 become an android?

Although not much is known before Dr Gero kidnapped her, we know that Android 18 and her brother Android 17 were ordinary kids. Dr Gero probably thought it was too much effort to create robots from scratch, so he just enhanced humans.

The one thing we do know is that Android 18 had a bomb placed in her and some mechanism for unlimited energy.

Apart from that, we don’t know precisely what Dr Gero did, but he could have done anything from brain implants, heart transplant, artificial blood dialysis and skin armour replacement.

All of which would still make Android 18 human.

How did Android 18 become good?

Dr Gero created the Androids with a single purpose, to be evil and kill Dr Gero’s enemies. But this doesn’t make Android 18 evil by nature.

Some would argue that she was never evil, but was just led estray by Dr Gero and her brother.

Through the Android saga, she is going with the flow, and then she tries her best to avoid being eaten by Cell.

Some might have assumed that Dr Gero had a mind control device in his androids, but it doesn’t seem to be that powerful, as he ended up being killed by his own creations.

How did Android 18 have a kid?

So we can assume that Android 18 had a kid the way any other woman did.

She was born a female, and Dr Gero presumably didn’t remove any organs needed in childbirth.
